Holiday closures & testing arrangements

Our laboratories will be closed during the upcoming bank holidays, please be aware of these arrangements when sending samples for testing.

Outside of routine courier collections, please do not arrange deliveries to arrive between:

  • 12 noon on Thursday 17 April and the end of Monday 21 April
  • 12 noon on Friday 2 May and the end of Monday 5 May
  • 12 noon on Friday 23 May and the end of Monday 26 May

At CUH, staff will be on-call to process urgent samples during this period.

Haemato-Oncology Service

Routine courier services will not be in place over the bank holidays. If you anticipate sending samples at these times, please contact us as soon as possible to make arrangements:

Due to the closures detailed above, please:

  • Inform us in advance of any samples arriving after 12 noon on Thursday 17th April.
  • Bone marrow samples requiring RNA extraction for internal tests (e.g., BCR::ABL p210 quantification) must also be received by 12 noon on Thursday 17th April.
  • Follow-up AML or ALL MRD samples requiring immediate dispatch to external laboratories to obtain RNA (e.g., NPM1, core binding factor, PML::RARA, BCR::ABL1) should be received no later than 12 noon Thursday 17th April.
  • Samples received after this time will require processing within the GLH prior to onward dispatch.

CUH Genomics Laboratory staff will remain available during the holidays to perform urgent processing and/or testing. Additionally, for CUH submitters, a cytogenetics and molecular scientist will be on call to handle emergency requests. These can be coordinated by reaching out to the HODS on-call consultant.
